The commercial cleaning and facility services industry often operates behind the scenes. These workers are the quiet backbone of daily and nightly building operations, keeping everything running smoothly, but their hard work often goes unseen. However, that’s not the case with Natalia Rodriguez, a day porter in Denver who has worked with CCS Facility Services for six years.
Natalia pours her heart into her work, taking pride in the details that keep the fitness center in a preeminent downtown Denver commercial real estate facility sparkling and welcoming. “I truly love what I do, I’m passionate about it,” Natalia says. “I try to think about what I would like in a fitness center and give tenants that same experience.”
From providing fresh towels to ensuring machines for are clean and sanitized for tenants’ workout routines, Natalia ensures the people who use this amenity feel cared for from the moment they walk in the door for a pre- or post-work workout. Her thoughtful approach and attention to detail have earned her praise and even sparked a friendship.
One afternoon after a training session, a tenant approached Natalia to compliment her on her work. When he realized she didn’t speak English, he pulled out a translator app so they could communicate. Natalia did the same, and what began as a simple exchange of gratitude has since blossomed into an unexpected friendship. “He’s learned a bit of Spanish from me, and I’ve learned a bit of English from him,” Natalia laughs. “This is what I love about interacting with the building tenants.”
For Natalia, the job is about more than cleaning. She sees it as a chance to brighten someone’s day and personalize their experience.
Susi Muñoz, a Senior Account Manager with CCS Facility Services who oversees janitorial service for this facility, says this tenant-first mindset is a big part of why the building consistently earns top marks. Periodically, the building management company sends in secret shoppers to test facilities, amenities, and service levels. This beautiful building consistently earns a perfect 100%. “Every time this building gets a flawless rating, and I think a lot of that is thanks to Natalia,” says Susi.
